The 2005 theme for Westgarth film festival "Food for Thought"
is building a ground swell of interest from all parts of the
world. Many a local and international filmmaker has filled
a postpack with their precious cargo and ?whisked? it of
to Westgarth without further ado.

Some filmmakers are choosing to hand deliver, wary of the
postal service, men wearing yellow plastic and carrying
hoses!!! Wet video or DVD just won?t do. Think of the public
liability issues? Not to mention 2 years of ones life, ruined
by others paranoia.

Then again it could possibly be viewed from the another
perspective. Be aware but not alarmed when confronted by
a seductive and possibly surly filmmaker, carrying their
creative works in a David Jones or Bloomingdales
carry bag. Looking fairly gaunt yet rather attractive.
sucking on jaffa?s and smelling like freshly popped corn.

Wanting to submit, yet but by no means submissive. Not
to be dealt with lightly I can assure you of that. The
hungry film maker, looking for the banquet can become
very tricky if suddenly hosed down or rejected!!!

This is certainly worth considering when one is dealing
with creative genius and those living on a G-string
budget. All in the name of the arts and creating leisure
pursuits for others.

Arts Administraters, film critics, the worlds postal services
and those that say it can't be done, beware be very aware!

The excitment is building and our village is in full swing
all biting at the bit to play ones own special role in this
unique film festival. A film based festival that will connect
business community and the arts.

Blogging is changing the face of Journalism in the 21
century. It is now no longer a one way dialogue between
"them and us". Track backs, ping backs, forums, comment
sections and access to ones own site is creating ongoing
dialogue world wide.

The internet has created a new venue and method for writers,
commentators, those with a social conscience and the will
to speak up, to examine the issue of ?changing paradigms
changing minds?.(Vita 2004)

There are now over 4 million bloggers on the internet forging
fabulous frontiers in this new era of participatory media. Or
as it is has been spoken about in New York ?citizen?s media?.
It is predicted that there will be up to 10 million bloggers
by 2007. What is the world population today??

At the Republican convention in the US last year 10 bloggers
were ?invited? to participate in the forum and contribute.
This is a most novel concept to I Vita as it is appears a
very old-fashioned paradigm that one would need to be
?invited? by snail mail prey tell, to participate in ones
future choices? Hmmmm?.. Very pass? indeed and so patronizing
my dears......

However it is interesting to note that radio was introduced
to such a forum in 1927 and television was introduced for
the first time at the Republican convention in 1952. It
would appear gradient steps of a world finding its voice

First we could listen, then we could see, now we can truly
participate and impact on making meaningful changes in all
our lives. It is now possible to acknowledge the other as
one and the same. We all have the same needs the very same
desires and wishes, the same will to love and live fully.

Maybe patriarchal behavior is dead or certainly dying?

Nov 11th 2002) (Interestingly there is no explanation for
patriarchy in the Microsoft search on this computer).Most
amusing indeed!

As we move into the 21 century we are merely witnessing a
world that is finding its voice. Blogging has created a more
proactive and empowered way for ?citizen?s of the world"
to not just passively witness the world, but be proactive and
create participation for all.

Interestingly the Melbourne Age readers have commented on how
bloggers have played a significant role in bringing the plight
of those in Sth East Asia into clearer focus. I myself have
had significant traffic as people search out ways to play a
role and create mutual benefit. (See article below) People are
stepping up to the podium of life and want to contribute
to creating a better world where all are uplifted.

So fear not my dear journalist friends and those employed in
the big end of media mogul town. Slip into the seductive world
of participatory media. Get yourself a blogger and empower yourself.

Find a better place to play let your real voice be heard and move
with self-determination in to your own future. Glide into the
seductive world of blogging and create your own changes.

Make the things and people in your life matter. Give true

yourself have you loved and honoured the other as you would
have one-self loved and honoured?? We are all as one, it has
never been viable (to live) as "me" or "you" it is always
about us.

In a speech launch of John Menadue's book in October 1999,
the great and Gorgeous Gough Whitlam pondered the issue of
all things "sacred and secular' identifying John as a
combination of these 2?treasures?.

In 1972 Gough a man of great vision and heartfelt spirit,
led my generation into its future.He gave us choices, he
gave us free education, and he gave us Medicare. He gave us
a belief in a brave new future. In a world where we actually
did have choices and we could act on them.

He told us it was ?Time?. In 1975 we wept
with our parents as the dream of living our lives awake was
cruelly and unceremoniously ripped from us.

29 years later my generation looks with anticipation and a hunger
for those fundamental rights to be restored. We are coming
out of the darkness to recreate a better place to play. We
will revalue sacred ethics and rid ourselves of commodity
ethics.

Those ethics that have destroyed our choices and created
exclusion not inclusion. Values that are dangerous & toxic
choices that leave out some and support but a few. Commodity
ethics embody survival of the fittest beliefs that have created
a "me" generation that now has a HECS debt and no place to go.
It has so damaged our walking/ working in the world.

It is now Time it is not to late as Mark said? >to lead the next generation into a sacred future.

Last night Gough watched my generation identify specific
strategies and beliefs that will enable us to reclaim these
pleasures. He saw the light within a new treasure a new leader
Mark Latham.

Mark spoke with pride and conviction on where we can go in the
future, Mark and the many like minded understand the importance
of the whole not just the chosen few. We can and will revalue,
re-establish and re identify ?sacred treasures" and the gift of
loving fully.

Remember on the 9th of October to consider what you bequeath
to your children. We must nuture the mentors of the past and
take our mentors of the future with us. On Election Day 2004
consider the rate of your interest in a new world order.
Consider what you have and what you truly value in our sacred
world.

What did we say about love? What did we mean? Did we say it
anyway? What could we have said? What would we have wanted

it said with fear or was it said with love?

Do we respect ourselves?? Do we respect others? Were our
intentions clear? Did we act from desire and a need to be
loved or a need to control others?? Did we leave ourselves
wanting? Did we leave others out? Who did we punish?? Was
it ourself?? Why did this happen??? Will we let it happen
again??

Have we forgotton who we are? Have we forgotton who
we can become? Do we honour the other as we honour
ourselves?? How is that??? Does love conquer all??
Is it a weapon?? What is mass destruction and who
decides?? Does it come with a bang?? Or eat away at
as from inside??

Are we loving the other as we we would have ourselves
loved??? We need to re-image/ revalue/ and remember what
love is and can be

we have shown compassion to ourselves, we are able to offer
compassion to others. When we have offerd suport without
conditions we have given freely. When we have felt anothers
pain we have felt our own pain. When we moved beyond fear
of another we are capable of releasing our own fears.

When we have shared our thoughts with another, we are open
to share their thoughts. When we love fully we open to being
loved fully.

I Vita am off to foreign parts, to escape the maddening crowds.
I will drop pearls of wisdom from a great height in "frenzied"
and passionate moments. I will indeed be ever present through
those I love and have invited to write on VITALINGUS. (Scout) will
be sharing her feisty and fabulous swing on life. Verne may
well pop in to sing a bawdy song or two. A search party has
been sent out to find Minnie Moo-lay. (never one to mince her
words!!!) Those State side may add a Northern wind to Vita.
I shall return to my duties in the fullness of time. Til then
I leave you with this quote from the fabulous Tenzin Palmo.

It would appear Tibetan magic is out of favour. Fate leading
us to the one we love and good old-fashioned courage to love
fully, is just a thing of the past in some circles.
?Scientists at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology's
Media Lab? are messing about with these time-honoured ways
of finding love.

The have created technology that will apparently ? take
some of the roughness out of blind dating?. Or indeed the
true mystery of living in the moment and the thrill of divine
and delicious surprises!

Of course in days gone by one met at a dance, found love in
the back of the MG or met at sporting events or other suitable
meeting places. Often ones life partner was chosen by parents,
based on status or cultural beliefs. (Has this changed for some?)

One courted for some time and made the best of what was offered.
Another swing on this method is to accept ones choices and love
fully anyway Going with the ebb and flow of a relationship as it
comes. Accepting the hard bits and the gorgeous bits as well
Mmmmmm..... well worth the effort I would say..

The naughties are something else it would appear, if you allow
it to be. Apparently one?s true love ?could be just a heartbeat
away, thanks to a dating game that alerts you when a love match
is within a few metres of your mobile phone, the journal New
Scientist reports?.

One wonder?s are the mobiles falling in love or even on the
same wave-length??? Is it just another phone company scam to
convince users they are all things to all people? What would
Mr Bell think about all this??

?Using Bluetooth wireless technology - a short-range system
built into many mobile phones, would-be daters subscribe to
a service that stores a personal profile, their photograph
and a wish list of what they are looking for in a partner.
When the database spots enough similarities between
two people who are in close proximity say, in a shopping
centre office,or cafe - the service tells their mobile
phones to communicate with each other, sending over a
package of details and a picture.?

It begs the question what are ?enough similarities? when
is not enough too little??? When is a Goddess really just
as much a girl and yet well worth loving??? (This is a
indeed a serious conundrum that Greta, Mae and Madonna
have contemplated throughout their lives)

When does a wish list start to look like demands and
unrealistic expectations? What prey tell of the package
my dear ones ah ya ya?... What to put in what to leave
out?
