Productive participation [Essence of Vita ] -
vitalingus - @ 02:24:pm
Life will always be more rewarding as our life proceeds, when one
is true to ones convictions, and belief in self -respect and love
of the other. One gets a realistic idea of how capable we can ALL
be and ultimately are
When one makes healthy ethical investments that in corporate the
whole we are all enriched and NEVER left wanting When we let go
of control of the other and small ego based behaviors that leave
some out and others in, we are all left powerful and enriched ???
One should relish the feeling of inclusiveness and relax.
Let go of emotional turmoil in ones life and NEVER inflict
it on another? Move past all of that negative energy from
others nonconstructive ?small? shallow non-caring belief
systems.
By making tough choices and being true to what one wants
and needs, one will always grow and evolve in the best and
most productive direction....Be wise be willing but never
hit another with ones own self doubt and controlling ways....
With no doubt about a productive future..

Love ones work [Essence of Vita ] -
vitalingus - @ 12:33:pm
We work in order to be happy, and be valued in the
world Often times we can be uncertain whether work
is our life or life is our work?We must be the joy
in our work. Work and play must be both enjoyed &
valued equally ??
We must find happiness in all we do.This awakening
necessitates one to acknowledge and embrace ?economic
pursuits that cultivates' self-respect self-reliance
and value adds to our community our world our way of
BEING as ONE...Be with OUR world and enjoy VITA/LIFE
These values serve to integrate, rather than disempower
disengage or dishonor our energies for the self and
ones community and VITA/LIFE.
Dharma perspective allows one to engage economic
goals with production, profit and not to mention
pleasure, while considering our impact on humanity
& ones whole environment.

The visible effect of daily life [Vita's Guests] -
vitalingus - @ 06:40:pm
Gallery 101 Exhibition
___________
Rhett D'Costa will be showing a new body of paintings
and drawings opening 3rd June. 2007 D'Costa's colorful
and poetic work identifies itself with the highly visible
systems that affect our daily lives. He is interested
in the relationship between logic and intuition, between
control and spontaneity, between fast and slow and between
remembering and forgetting.
RHETT D?COSTA
LITTLE THOUGHTS / SECRET PICTURES
Painting and Drawing
GALLERY 101 5 - 23 JUNE 2007
Opening Tuesday 5 June 6-8pm
?Painters are faced with a complex challenge; how to
make paintings that matter in the contemporary world.
I am interested in the tension and slippage between
things falling apart and things coming together. The
polarities between incompleteness and completeness.
I am interested in the relationship between intuition
and conscious thought; between thinking and making,
and points of decision making, which occur during
the process of making art?.
Rhett D?Costa 2004
Rhett D?Costa?s paintings and drawings appear to
oscillate between harmony and discordance, uniformity
and randomness, flatness and plasticity. This heightens
the vulnerable human gesture. We notice the accuracy of
line and mark on the picture plane and the paint
misbehaving.
Titles act as a point of entry for the viewer, but the
works remain open to a myriad of interpretative readings.
The viewer is encouraged to find an intuitive, experiential
approach to the paintings. To cancel out, count, find patterns
and attempt to decipher codes and links -
To create a play of associations based on experience,
memory, judgment and taste.
?D?Costa?s mark making is like concrete poetry. With it,
we lose the image and move into something felt, beautiful,
tactile. These momentary, nomadic geometries of errant
number and gesture posit a world of vast intangible and
amorphous ideas. A world in which we realize what we
perceive is limited.
A plurality of possible spaces in our world of compressed
time, they conjure an esoteric memory of ancient and imagined
worlds? The sense of ideas refracting across space, without
maps, as an abstract thing becomes a living being.?
Above excerpt from Possible Worlds,
catalogue essay by Martina Copley, Monash Gallery, Gippsland,
2007.
BACKGROUND
Born in Bombay, India, Rhett D?Costa studied a Bachelor of
Arts [Fine Art, Painting] and a Master of Arts [by Research]
at RMIT University in Melbourne.
D?Costa is currently lecturing in Painting at RMIT University.
In 2003, he was a finalist in the Arthur Guy Memorial Painting
Prize, Bendigo Art Gallery, Victoria.

including Carte Blanche ? A Drawing Exhibition, Alliance Francaise,
Singapore, 1999; Works on Paper, Sungshin Museum, Seoul, Korea,

A blossoming VITA/life... [Vita's Guests] -
vitalingus - @ 02:49:pm
Women bloggers blossom _ Dan talks to VITA
This from the lovely
Dan Skeen ( see his link in
my quick links)
AGE NEWSPAPER
May 8, 2007
"It's a big world out there for blogger Vita but there
are challenges to be faced."
"Isn't blogging just for people who are stupid & lonely?"
The blogger known as Vita recalls her stunned reaction
to this blunt comment from a dinner-party guest. While
his etiquette is dubious, the guest's attitude exemplifies
a general ambivalence towards blogging among Australians,
particularly women.
Still, after a long period of dormancy by global standards,
there are signs that Australia's women bloggers are beginning
to bloom. The Melbourne-based creator of the art and events
blog www.vitalingus.com (one is right here), has been watching
these developments for some time. She launched her blog back in
2000 which was originally served out of New Jersey, in the
pioneer days of blogging."
This site is now hosted by the lovely people at Melbourneonline
see the link in Vita's quick links.. (VITA)
"It basically took three months of research to find an
Australian provider that would serve a blogger", she says.
Now happily hosted in Melbourne, she enjoys more than 35,000
visitors" in high season, "and has made a network of global
connections."
"But, aside from a few success stories such as vitalingus.com
& reasonsyouwillhateme.blogspot.com, Australia's bright lights
of bloggerdom are predominantly men.
Of the 8000 women's blogs listed at BlogHer.org, just 96
are of Australian or New Zealand origin. By comparison
Canada, a country with 36 per cent more people, lists 82
per cent more women's blogs.
This gap has left bloggers like Vita feeling isolated.
She tried to set up a course on blogging in 2004 but
only three people registered. "Patriarchy is alive and
well," she says of the current crop of male bloggers
who receive the lion's share of traffic.
"They think the world is about them and they never
take the time to write back to you."
The gender disparity has its roots in the early days of
blogging, which initially caught on in the tech sector.
Early blogs required technical expertise to set up and
use, at a time when most computer programmers were men,
so the gender disparity among bloggers was significant.
That gap is closing, particularly in the US. Bolstered by
the growth of blogging networks for women, such as
blogher.org, the US has seen a huge surge of women bloggers.
"Women bloggers already comprise about half of the bloggers
out there," says Elisa Camahort, a co-founder of BlogHer.
The same trends driving this growth in the US are affecting
Australia, albeit on a smaller scale. Technical barriers
are lowering. Today hosted blogs such as Wordpress.com &
Blogger.com make it simple for anyone to get started.
Despite the slow adoption in Australia, the uptake of
women bloggers is more significant than a simple
statistic on gender equality, for this reason: women
blog differently.
"They tend to be more conversational and communal
compared to men," Camahort says. "And they value
the opinions and reviews from people they know
virtually online."
"This will" undoubtedly "have significance for our
society & business. advertisers, promoters, public
relations. Corporate communications professionals
will find it increasingly important to consider
the influence of a community of highly networked
women bloggers.
"You can see how this would change the dynamic of how
(one) does business," Camahort says. Ones "customers
are out there talking among themselves in a much more
amplified and distributed manner than they ever were
before.

RUMI THE WAY THINGS SHOULD
what will our children do in the morning?
will they wake with their hearts wanting to play,
the way wings should?
will they have dreamed the needed flights and
gathered the strength from the planets that
all men and women need to balance the wonderful
charms of the earth, so that her power @ beauty
does not make us forget our own?
I know all about the ways of the heart - how it
wants to be alive. Love so needs to love that
it will endure almost anything, even abuse,
just to flicker for a moment. but the sky's
mouth is kind, it's song will never hurt you,

Our being is deeper [Essence of Vita ] -

This from Rumi the Persian Poet
"BE WITH THOSE WHO HELP YOUR BEING
Be with those who help your being.
don't sit with indifferent people,
whose breath comes cold out of their
mouths, not these visible forms,
your work is deeper.
A chunk of dirt thrown in the air
breaks to pieces. if you don't try
to fly, and so break yourself apart,
you will be broken open by death,
when it's too late for all you
could become.

The "Noise's in our head [Vita's Arts & Culture] -
vitalingus - @ 11:21:am
Well it is complete and done, as it is on Jupiter.
The lovely funny and prolific Mathew Saville has
climbed yet another of his mountains. Matt has NOW
completed and released his first feature film ?NOISE?.
Madman Pictures Pitch
"From director of ROY HOLSDOTTER LIVE, Matthew Saville's
first feature length film is a murder thriller set in
(elegant)Melbourne,"
The film is "about a young male cop struggling to control
the pressure of his job as well as a deafening noise
growing inside his mind."
VITA's swing on "Noise"
Mathew?s film is an exploration of the ?Noises? in our
heads. The film examines beliefs, that include
integrity ones self- responsibility and control.
Who has control who does not? What is it ANYWAY?
Control and over what? An episodic tale of ?ordinary
life? or is it? Graham one of ?Noise?s? key character
is a young police officer battling with the controlling
behavior in his work environment
(Or it could well be out dated 20 century forms of old
leadership styles)
Graham is also dealing with his internal battle of self-
identity and his connection to the whole, with a very
disconcerting intimidating noise inside himself....
A pinnacle moment in "NOISE" is when Graham discusses
with Dean (whose girlfriend has been murdered?) An
intimate discussion that covers the issue of HOW we
perceive, our moments between life, death?, and the
effect that has on us?
Graham is privy to murder fear despair and anger in his
world?Graham is indeed, very tortured, witty, and yet
a conscious man. Graham is dealing with complex issues
of LAW and order. He is witnessing a world behaving badly.
While listening to the torture and noises in his own
head ?.
?Noise?, explores community / society?s horror, and
inability to face ones, own demons. ?NOISE? examines
dis/empowered, communities, their response and power/
lessness anger and frustration, ?Noise? asks us to
examine who must act on the situation that ensues in
this film?
There is a tragic sense that some one else ?should fix?
the problem ? Or worse still is it someone else?s fault??
Most importantly and yet less examined, within the content
is Lavina?s experience? ?Lavina Smart? witnesses a mass murder,
is stalked and confronted with her own mortality TWICE ? The
incredible ?lack of duty care? by the police to what Lavina
Smart experienced as the ?witness ?to the horrific murders?,
is gop smacking in its neglect?
Who is the victim who is the oppressor?.we must ask ourselves?
Noise is a dark and visually confronting piece. The film has
great night scenes, Visually feels like the less elegant
aspects of Melbourne.Matt may well be branding Melbourne as
the New York of film locations?
Mmmm? got to love that ?Strong performances by the rather
handsome Luke Elliot the powerful Maia Thomas and rather
amusing understated and lovely Simon Laherty.
Like patriarchy ?Tinnitus itself is not a disease but a
symptom and has many causes?. There is always a cure ?We
must as Matt believes behave as ?decent? human beings and
love the other as we would have ourselves loved?
linkwww.imdb.com/name/nm1234242/
See Vita's links for Matt' link Noise site coming soon from "madman pictures"
"Jupiter radiates more energy into space than it
receives from the Sun."
Be aware of the light and noises in ones head
