With Guantanamo Bay set to close, and the legality
of its Military Commissions in doubt, David Hicks
is speaking out of concern that the Australian
authorities will impose a new control order that
will prevent him from closing this terrible chapter
of his life and all those that have had his shocking
experience.

Control orders are one of the many worrying features
of Australia's draconian anti-terror laws that are
sacrificing many of our liberties without providing
effective protection for the community in return.

is inviting US to join thousands of very
concerned citizens in Federation Square

We all still care about climate change and
expect our Prime Minister to do more to
reduce Australia's greenhouse emissions.

When our politicians are sitting around the table
in a few weeks trying to decide how ambitious they
can be with Australia's essential targets to reduce
greenhouse emissions. We need them to remember the
Walk Against Warming.

When Prime Minister Kevin Rudd watches the Saturday
night news, we need him to see images of thousands
of Australians on the streets calling for a new,
prosperous green economy filled with renewable energy
and green-collar jobs.

We all need our faces to be amongst those people along
with our friends, family and neighbors. Please register

Barack Obama yesterday in the New York Times
"about the job ahead as the next president
of the USA"

?I do not underestimate the enormity of the
task that rises ahead,? he said. Some of the
choices that we make are going to be ?difficult,?
he says. ?It is not going to be quick and it?s
not going to be easy for us to dig ourselves out
of the hole we are in. But America is a strong
and resilient country.?

Sadly Mr Obama?s grandmother Madelyn Dunham? was
not present in the physical to hear her grandson
speak these words, but we at Vita are sure she was
in spirit.Madelyn died, peacefully hopefully knowing
that her grandchild has made American history and
that change is great and magnificent...

Madelyn will be aware as she moves to the higher
place that great things will come to be as America
shows it has grown up and has taken love into it's
arms...

The life?s of her children her grandchildren and
those that will come in future life?s yet to be born,
are NOW changed for ever. Her grandchild poised to
become the next President of the United States?

to think America has seen the light not the color for
the first time in its history. Obamas days in the sun
have just begun?Obama has ascended to the highest seat

Madelyn lived through extraordinary change within her
lifetime Madelyn was born at at time when women were
cast the right to vote through "Harry Burns"..She saw
the securing of the vote eventually for ALL women in
America?.

Ratification for this important ammendment
was certified on August 26, 1920).Harry Burns
at 24 years of age had the casting vote...)

Madelyn lived through the great depression, the
Second World War the fall of Saigon, the invasion
of Iraq, the birth of Timor as a nation.

A woman born in 1922 who understood the
?economics of poverty?, that has a very ironic
twist in her grandson?s ascension to the ?white
house". Particularly right NOW as we watched the
USA's "walls' coming tumbling down around them...

We look forward to seeing Obama take his first
BRAVE steps up his mountain and with bold graceful
leaps for the next generations that follow. May
those steps be magnificent that realign to revalue
America?s future. May he make giant steps for human
kind/ness....

Let us look forward to the journey ahead, as one
that can only be more willing to love fully. A
vital future that is ready to evolve a potential
that is enlightened and inclusive.

A more compassionate love filled America we can
but hope for US all..

BACKGROUND TO THIS WORK
The Letter:
The text for this unique production is it's
entirety from the original version of "The
Jerilderie Letter" that was handed over in
1879 by the Australian outlaw Ned Kelly at
Jerilderie, New South Wales.

The letter was then donated to the Victorian
State Library, Melbourne.
by Bronwyn Binns in 2000.

The Delivery:
"A performance space in the middle of which is
the death mask of Ned Kelly atop a wooden plinth.
To one side is a sign on a stand that reads:
"DEATH MASK OF EDWARD (NED) KELLY (1854 - 1880)".

The Moving Image:
Video images are projected onto the space for each
Act of the Delivery.

Act One: Four horses grazing on the horizon.
Act Two: Two white horses resting in the shade.
Act Three: Open country with hills and trees
on the horizon.
Act Four: The exterior and interior of the Kelly
Housein Beveridge.

Act One: HORSES
The death mask of Ned Kelly has its eyes closed. It
softly hums a snatch of an Irish air. Then it begins
to speak........to US .....
